If you are interested in volunteering with Caritas Anchor House and making a difference to people experiencing homelessness, this may be a role for you!

We are looking for volunteer Community Ambassadors, helping to extend our reach so that more people experiencing homelessness can access the support they need. By utlising your communication skills and contacts with local community groups, you’ll help to build Caritas Anchor House's profile and supporter network, and make a big difference to the lives of people without a home in East London.

This role is flexible to fit around your other commitments. Whether it's months, days or hours, the time you give really does make a difference. We ask our Ambassadors to volunteer by taking on one or more of the activities listed below, as often as you are able to.

About the role

Caritas Anchor House is looking to increase our awareness and supporter based, to enable us to help more people than ever before. We are seeking the support of well-connected people within East London or Essex to help expand our reach, primarily with religious organisations, schools and youth groups and businesses. The role could involve making e-introductions, setting up meetings, giving talks about our work, organising collections of food and toiletries as well as other essential items, and taking part in events and street fundraising activities. There is the opportunity to make this role your own and to take on as many or as few activities as you would like and are able to.

You can help people experiencing homeless rebuild their lives, and reconnect with their community, by getting out into yours!

About you

We're looking for Community Ambassadors to work with us that:

  • Are fantastic communicators and able to build rapport
  • Are able to understand and speak about our work and the challenges people experiencing homelessness face (we can provide information/training)
  • Have a committment to our charitable mission and values

We'll ensure you recieve:

  • All the information you need about people we help, our services, impact and fundraising
  • Regular updates and contact with our Community and Events Officer, and wider teams where helpful
  • A network of support from our wider team of volunteer Community Ambassadors
  • Any other information or training you will need to be successful in your volunteer role.
