CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF CARITAS ANCHOR HOUSE CHAIRS NEW HOMELESS PANEL

Amanda Dubarry, Chief Executive of Caritas Anchor House, has taken on a vital role in a programme dedicated to helping women.

Amanda Dubarry, who joined Caritas Anchor House as Chief Executive in March 2018, has been appointed as Chair of the Ending Women’s Homelessness Grants Programme panel. Administered by Homeless Link, the programme will support charities working with women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in England.

The panel consists of women from the homelessness and women’s sector, as well as women with lived experience of homelessness. Amanda Dubarry said:

“It’s a real honour to be chairing this panel. These grants will hopefully go a long way in helping the valuable charities supporting women experiencing, or facing the risk of, homelessness.

“There are a wide range of criteria, so we encourage all those seeking funding to support their work with women to consider putting forward their project when we open for applications later this month.”

The programme is funded by a £2 million grant awarded by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) from the homelessness strand of the Tampon Tax Fund. The Tampon Tax Fund itself is a wider government project distributing funds generated from the VAT on sanitary products to projects improving the lives of disadvantaged women and girls.

The programme will open for first stage submissions at the end of June 2019, when the full details of the process and criteria will be released. All grants will be awarded by the end of October 2019.

At its heart, the projects should be responsive to their local context and to the needs of the women they support. For example, funding may be awarded to projects seeking to increase capacity for women’s provision, or to improve pathways into services for women sleeping rough, or pilot a new intervention for under-represented groups of women.

The programme expects to make around 15 large and 10 small grants from two strands:
• Large grants of up to £100,000 – open to all charities, deadline August
• Small grants of up to £30,000 – open to charities with turnover of less than £2 million, deadline September
