Suiting up for a work placement at Freshfields law firm

In April, Caritas Anchor House resident Thomas Thomas suited up for a successful four week work placement Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, a multinational law firm and a member of the Magic Circle of elite British law firms.

Having found out about Ready for Work, Business in the Community's national programme, from his Lifestyle Architect at Caritas Anchor House, Thomas registered to attend an assessment day with 25 other hopefuls. As well as taking place in interviewed, the applicants had the opportunity to hear from a host of employers, who provided useful information about employment opportunities within their organisations, and the required in order to achieve them.

Thomas was delighted to find out he was the sole person selected by Freshfields for their two week work placement which, thanks to his hard work and dedication, turned into a four week placement with the company.

During his placement, Thomas assisted the team with a range of tasks, including database management, working on customer relationship systems and troubleshooting IT problems. He also assisted the Freshfields associates and conducted research for clients.

“I was thrilled to have been selected by Freshfields for a placement in such a respected company,” said Thomas. “I learnt a great deal there, and have picked up software skills and a lot of law jargon! It was very enjoyable, and has given me the confidence and skills to now apply for jobs in my desired career path of IT. I am hopeful I’ll secure a job soon.”
