London Marathon runners raise over £5,000 for Caritas Anchor House

28th April 2015
Congratulations and a big thank you to Greg Fernett and Dominic Biagioni who joined 35,000 people to complete the challenging London Marathon this Sunday, while helping to bring hope to homeless adults in East London.

Greg and Dom raised an impressive £5,000 for Caritas Anchor House as they were both inspired by the work which we do in trying to change the lives around of some of the capital’s most disadvantaged people.

“It’s been an exciting but quite exhausting process,” said Greg upon completing the event in less than five hours. “We have been training for weeks to prepare ourselves for the event, so we’re both so happy we’ve crossed the finish line in under our target time! But to be able to cross it while helping those who need it most is even better.”

“Caritas Anchor House does amazing work in Newham,” said Dom. “They are seeking funds to expand their services and help more and more people experiencing homelessness and social exclusion in Newham. It’s a fantastic charity and I’m proud to have been able to help them. We both thank everyone who sponsored us.”

The money raised by Greg and Dom will go directly towards helping us support people affected by homelessness, substance abuse, mental health, domestic violence and crime.

Keith Fernett, CEO of Caritas Anchor House, met both Greg and Dom at the finish line on Sunday. “A big thank you from everyone at Caritas Anchor House to Greg and Dom for running the London Marathon, and to those who sponsored them. As the demand for our services continues to rise, it is vital we are able to meet our funding targets, and the money raised will make a huge difference to all of our residents.”
