Jobseekers Roadshow at Caritas Anchor House

2nd November 2016
Caritas Anchor House has joined forces with Newham Workplace to provide a Jobseekers Roadshow for our residents.

Staff from Newham Workplace - who support local people seeking employment - delivered an information session about their work and the services they can offer to Caritas Anchor House residents. Residents were then able to meet with them to talk in more detail about their situations and how they might be able to help, and were encouraged to attend a registration event at Workplace in the coming week.

Caritas Anchor House staff then shared information about placements and apprenticeships which our residents can access, including Ready for Work, Pret a Manger apprenticeships, and Out Front hospitality training.

Keith Fernett, Chief Executive of Caritas Anchor House, said, “Supporting our residents into employment is one of the key aims of Caritas Anchor House. By providing opportunities to learn new skills, we help our residents to improve their self-esteem and gain experience so that they can re-enter the workforce.

“I’d also like to thank the staff of Workplace for working in partnership with Caritas Anchor House. By supporting our residents into employment, they are helping them in their journey to rebuild their lives.”

In the last three years, Caritas Anchor House has supported 185 residents to secure paid employment – this is 27.5% of our residents, nearly double the industry average of 14%. Read more about out education, training and employment services here.
