Caritas Anchor House is shortlisted as a Housing Hero

28th April 2017
Caritas Anchor House is delighted to announce that we are in the running for a prestigious national award.

Our Personal Development Team has been shortlisted in this year’s Housing Heroes Awards, in the Support and Care Team of the Year category. This accolade recognises organisations that excel in the role of helping some of the most vulnerable people in society to regain their lives.

Every year, we provide a home and support to up to 250 homeless people, and our Personal Development Team is central to their journeys through Caritas Anchor House. Through specialist support provision within the team, they deliver three vital programmes which support our residents to grow in confidence and move towards living independent, self-fulfilling lives – they are the Aspirations Programme, Education, Training and Employment, and the Move-on Programme.

In 2016, the Personal Development Team provided personalised support to 244 previously homeless people, and supported 90 into independent living and 36 into employment. In addition, 21 residents achieved a first stage move-on by making the transition to our new move-on flats.

“We are delighted to be shortlisted for this Housing Heroes award. It is a credit to the many achievements and recognises the consistently high standards of service delivery that we provide to people from all walks of life," said Linda Maytum-Wilson, Acting Chief Executive of Caritas Anchor House.

This nomination is the latest in an impressive history of accolades for Caritas Anchor House. In 2016, we won the Community Involvement award at the Newham Chamber of Commerce Business Awards and were also named winner of the Biggest Win category at the Citizens UK Award.

The winners of this year’s Housing Heroes Awards will be announced at the Housing 2017 awards ceremony in Manchester on 26 June 2017.
