The Bookworms Arrive!

4th October 2010

This week saw the start of a new partnership with Canning Town Library. Maurice Price says, “Deborah Peck, the Librarian at Canning Town, and her team could not have been more welcoming”. Deborah and the team set aside most of a morning so that residents of Anchor House could have a thorough introduction to the Library Service. This was the first of what will be regular introductions to the Library.

Over tea and biscuits Residents were signed up to the library, shown all the services starting with traditional book-lending services and then on to free music CD and DVD loans. They were also shown how they can access the e-learning project based at Anchor House and also downloads of audio books for playing on computer and MP3 players.

Our aim, say Deborah and Maurice, is to enthuse residents about this “life-long” facility. Now that they are signed up they can access 9 other boroughs’ libraries. “I had no idea that libraries did so much…last time I was in one it was just dusty books and people shushing me!”
