Caritas Anchor House

Working at the heart of homelessness

Aspirations Programme report, Q1 2017/18

Our News in Brief

Aspirations Programme report, Q1 2017/18

26th July 2017
This last quarter has seen Caritas Anchor House develop our working practices as we launched In-Form, a client relationship and service management system created by Homeless Link.

In-Form will be a key tool in providing an evidence-base to demonstrate the impact of our activities, and will strengthen conversations with key strategic partners and others in the homelessness sector.

We are delighted that the London Borough of Newham rated ours an ‘Excellent’ service, recognising our focus on continuous improvement and high levels of service user satisfaction. We are committed to helping Newham meet new statutory obligations and deliver on individual and community resilience as homelessness reduction and new national initiatives gain ground in the fight to end homelessness for good.

We have continued to support our local community by providing safe spaces for those anxious about personal safety, social divisions and intolerance. The work of our Catalyst Coordinator with Newham Police to encourage greater understanding of community safety has been a particular highlight of the past few months. We also look forward to our residents contributing to Newham’s Health and Wellbeing strategy which gives them an opportunity to shape future services.

We remain determined to continue to make a real difference and thank all those who help us remain resolute, resilient and resourceful.

Over the last three months to 30 June 2017:

  • 23 residents moved out of Caritas Anchor House into independent living
  • 2 residents moved into our new first stage move-on flats
  • 9 residents gained employment
  • 416 volunteering sessions were undertaken
  • We maintained a 97% occupancy rate
